Committee Participation

Member committee participation is vital to the health of the association. Member contributions foster a stronger sense of community within the association, and help the board to fulfill its policy-making role more efficiently by allowing board members to receive input and different viewpoints, while remaining focused on their role of governance.

Make an Impact

As an active NMMA member, you can make a difference: Member-driven committees play a key role in the development, evolution and direction of the programs that bring life to the five strategic areas upon which all NMMA work is focused:

  • Public Policy advocacy at the federal, state and local levels
  • Promoting Boating through boat shows, public relations and Discover Boating programs
  • Information research, statistics and data
  • Quality Assurance through certification, education, CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) and trade shows
  • Communicating the right information, to the right person, at the right time, in the right form

Participation Guidelines

  • NMMA will compensate travel expenses for committee meetings not held in conjunction with NMMA’s annual boat shows and conferences.
  • The frequency and location of each committee meeting will be determined by committee members.
  • Committee participation is not intended for the conduct of private business at the meetings and your active participation is needed.
  • Committee participation requires the member company to have all NMMA balances paid in full.
